The Power of the SQUAT
Squats are just one exercise that you should do weekly. It burns fat, builds muscle, and can be done with or without equipment. Not only does a squat target your legs, but it also targets you abs and back. Once you have strengthened these core muscles you can begin to add intensity through more reps or higher weight. To add weight, start placing equally heavy dumbbells in each hand. This will help you keep your shoulders up and balanced.
Some people don't realize that lifting weights is not just about building muscle, but it is also a great way to burn fat. For every pound of muscle you gain, your body will burn an additional 50-70 calories per day. When you lift weights, your muscles rip and need energy to repair and grow. Eating proteins and carbs puts your body into a building state.
The best thing about squats is that you can do them anywhere. Your bum can be lifted without ever stepping foot into a gym. However, I recommend you go to the gym and set goals for yourself to add weight. It is a fun challenge and is great for your body. Start with 25 squats everytime you use the restroom.
